Intro and Challenges

Swire Shipping is celebrating its 150th anniversary, sparking the need for an inspiring commemorative design. The requisite communication collaterals, calendars and a corporate diary, aimed to reflect the Group’s industry leadership and experience. Therefore, we collaborated with the Corporate Communications team to develop these deliverables, presenting the aligned vision and values to their global workforce.

The design direction balanced business evolution with illustrious heritage.

In addition, Swire Shipping requested that we include up-to-date information from their various business sectors. Moreover, the communication design had to appeal to and be accepted by diverse global staff from varying cultures.

Solutions

LivelyGreen anchored the design direction in the North Star motif, representing the client’s bright future as a global leader. Firstly, we designed a vessel illustration as a visual representation of Swire Shipping’s solutions for the notebook cover design. The calendar and notebook layout encompassed these signature design elements, complementing the 150th anniversary crest. Next, we selected a colour palette with a “bold Sangria shade”, adding subtle gold hot stamping for a premium feel. Additionally, we developed the calendar and notebook design direction with clear content in a legible layout. This made it user-friendly for a global team representing different age groups and cultures.

Impact

As an experienced design consultant, we successfully handled the global project management needed, completing the project in a short time. In addition, we also handled worldwide delivery during the pandemic.

The desktop calendars for office staff, wall-mount calendars for vessel crew, and user-friendly notebooks for office, offshore, and vessel settings, received overwhelmingly positive response.

Subsequently, additional global orders came in, and we developed an additional mini corporate notebook design for everyday business needs.
